Rachel Michaelsen, is a Diplomat in Comprehensive Energy Psychology, she has taught Energy Psychology techniques to mental-health and social-services providers to address their own stress and trauma as well as that of their clients. She has integrated this work with a variety of holistic, energetic, and creative interventions, including at the 2015 and 2016 conferences of the Association of Comprehensive Energy Psychology (ACEP). Rachel is the Chair of the ACEP Humanitarian Committee and has a private practice in Berkeley, CA.
Training Description:When individuals are stressed or traumatized their nervous system often gets stuck in a fight or flight state resulting in high blood pressure, increased heart rate, hyper-vigilance, and anxiety, perceptions of challenge or danger and disorganized cognitive processing. Not surprisingly, functioning is impaired when people are in this state of hyperarousal. Traumatized and stressed individuals have difficulty managing their behavior appropriately and succeeding in tasks of everyday living.
Learn how the nervous system becomes dysregulated, the impact of stress and trauma on health and well-being and the research related to how calming techniques positively impact the nervous system. Experience and practice simple techniques from the field of Energy Medicine which create calm and regulation. Learn Energy Psychology techniques to address distress, especially with people with SMI and older adults. The training will be taught through lecture, videos, demonstrations, and experiential practice.
At the end of this program, participants will be able to:
Explain how the stress and trauma negatively impact learning;
Explain how to shift the nervous system to a state of calm from a stated of dysregulation;
Demonstrate and teach at least three Energy Medicine techniques;
Demonstrate and facilitate one Energy Psychology techniques;
Determine how they will integrate what they have learned in their work with clients.
