NRA Basic Pistol Instructor: This 2 day course includes Basic Instructor Training (BIT) (6hrs) and the Pistol Instructor Course (10hrs) BIT covers NRA policies and procedures, basic public speaking skills, training methodology, use of a training team and training aids, organizing a course, building a budget, and finally preparing to teach. Successful completion of the Pistol Instructor Course certifies you to teach the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely, the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling, pistol parts and operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, range rules, shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions, cleaning the pistol, and continued opportunities for skill development. Performance evaluated based on the ability to handle firearms with confidence, use of appropriate training aids, following the lesson plans, etc.
The NEW NRA Basic Pistol Instructor Led Training course is a REQUIRED pre-requisite to this course regardless of previous experience or training. You must bring a copy of your certificate and book to the 1st day of class. I will generally have an ILT course scheduled prior to the instructor course.
Pre-Course shooting qualification is conducted prior to the first range exercise. You can qualify with any caliber you wish.
Materials to bring:
200 rounds of ammunition
Hat, Eye and Ear Protection, Sunscreen,
Appropriate Range clothing.
Lunch and Snacks (Provided ONLY if the course is held at the Sinnissippi Rod and Gun Club)
