The Waldwick-Stigma Free Task Force and Minding Your Mind present “Just Talk About It,” an interactive suicide prevention presentation designed to promote factual knowledge, encourage discussion, ease communication and enlighten parents and community members to the warning signs of mental health issues in adolescents and teens. The event will take place Monday, April 15th, 2019, 7:00 pm, Waldwick High School Little Theater, 155 Wyckoff Avenue, Waldwick.
The presentation will be given by Katya, a public speaker and sexual assault survivor who suffered a mental breakdown while studying abroad in her teens. Katya travels the country to educate students and adults about the stigma surrounding mental health issues and healthy relationships, and helps them understand empathy, consent, self-care, and positive coping skills. Katya will be accompanied by Guy Iacono, a licensed psychotherapist whose specialty ranges from addiction and crisis intervention to mood and personality disorders. Both Katya and Guy will be presenting to Waldwick Middle School and Waldwick High School students earlier in the day.
